Apr 20, 2019The Warriors, who went 30-9 and advanced to the quarterfinals last season, will look to seniors such as middle hitter Chris Dargan, setter David Flores, middle hitter Jack Hrvatin, setter and rightside hitter Tyler Holubek, rightside hitter Louden Moran, outside hitter Ben Pluskota, outside and rightside hitter Nico Studer and junior libero Tyler Vedder.Coach Kris Fiore’s Lincoln-Way East team lost 10 players from last season’s 39-3 state champions. Returning seniors include three-year starter libero Danny Pacini, two-year starter middle hitter Wil McPhillips, two-year starter setter Brent O’Donnell and junior opposite Trevor Lewis, who also started. Top newcomers for East are senior outside hitter Ike Mahajan, junior middle hitter John Glennon and junior opposite Casey Goss.Minooka also has several players who return. Indians coach Mike Kargle welcomes back senior middle hitter Noah Easter, junior opposite Evan Faifer, senior outside hitter AJ Lewis, junior outside hitter Shane Ooms and junior defensive specialist Caden Ritchey.All of the local teams will have similar paths in the postseason to the ones that they had last season. Ten teams will be in the Belleville East Subsectional, while five others will be in the Marist Sectional, and one is in the Hinsdale South Sectional.Here’s are some other players to watch for other local teams.BolingbrookSenior outside hitter Rico Wardlow is a three-year varsity starter for coach Molly DeSerf’s Raiders.
